Primate Welfare Manager

Colobus Conservation is seeking a Primate Welfare Manager reporting to the General Manager for all administrative, financial, and day-to-day matters. The position has responsibility for direct day-to-day supervision of a veterinarian plus primate welfare care staff, and support staff and volunteers working on primate welfare matters at any time.

Experience required: At least a bachelor’s degree in a biological or related field with animal care experience and/or behavioral field experience. Good writing skills is necessary.

The position is based in Diani, Kwale County.

The responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Managing all aspects of the day-to-day animal care operations as well as maintenance of the facilities in a timely fashion and in accordance with established policies, protocols, procedures,and laws according to Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB), Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS), Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA) and Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW).

• Training, evaluating, supervising, and directing the activities of the primate care staff and volunteers.

• Organizing and being involved in the response to community calls of orphaned, sick, injured, and dead primates.

• Involvement in sourcing and writing grant applications for the funding of the welfare projects.

• Implementation of designated animal welfare projects as directed by the Board of Directors.

• Ensuring data collection of the highest quality and archiving of the same, in both hard and softcopy.

• Participating in writing high quality and professional social media content related to CC primate welfare projects.
